The Lotus Flower

A couple of pictures I've taken....

The Water Lily and the Lotus have many similar features. Here are a few that separate the lily and the lotus...

Lily

The water lily grows a big lily pad with a notch

Water lilies have leaves that float directly on the water

Water lilies have pointy leaves that are thick and waxy

Water lilies come in warm colors: yellow, pink, red, pastel orange, and white

 

Lotus

The lotus grows a perfectly round lily pad

Lotus leaves hover above the water by six inches or more

The lotus plant has round leaves that are thin and papery.

Lotus blooms come in mixed colors: white, pink, blue, purple, or yellow.
